A home away from home, ‘Maison Perumal’ hotel, tucked away in the not-so-often-visited Tamil area in Perumal Koil Street amalgamates an old charm and new age style.
The sun-bathed courtyard with potted plants suspended from the roof, and wooden furniture for visitors to relax capture the attention of everyone.
The ambience gives homely comfort with the rooms immaculately tidy, furniture and cots glowing with varnish and neatly done bedspreads calm our senses and we tend to snooze off as we plunge into the beds.
The mirror in the room, though polished well, makes us appear obese and the wardrobe, which is fairly big, compensates for the mirror. Bathtubs are missing which is a saving grace for many Indians but the bathrooms are well-equipped and clean. Soaps and shampoos are supplied from Auroville.
Non-vegetarians have a gourmet’s delight as fresh seafood is served. Pure veggies rely on aappam and stew and, of course, our very own rice. The attendants are friendly and people at the reception desk are very hospitable - oozing love and affection.
Maison Perumal, true to its name - Maison in French means home - gives you the feeling of staying at home
